About the Film

Chasing Rainbows – Young Adults Living With Cancer is a dynamic 43-minute documentary film that introduces audiences to six young people who are “living life while fighting for it.” In an intimate living-room conversation, the six participants provide a unique and refreshing perspective about what it is like to live with cancer when you are young. With passion, infectious laughter and honesty, they discuss Fear, Anger, Finances, Sex, Infertility, Family Relationships, Death, Faith, and the Future. Their stories provide invaluable information, inspiration and hope – not only for other young adults facing life-threatening illness, but also their families, friends, caregivers and medical support teams.

“I could relate only too well to the ever-shifting phases of fear, anger, hope and sadness…I felt as though I was at a support group eeting, nodding along with the survivors in the film – people who truly get it.”
— Karin DuBois, 25 year old cancer survivor

Chasing Rainbows: Young Adults Living With Cancer is directed and co-produced by Pat Taylor on behalf of her daughter Sara Taylor Gibson, and features animation by Derek Cummings, evocative original songs by Michael Booth Palmer (who also co-produced) and underscoring by Edward Henderson.

Visit the Chasing Rainbows web site for more information on upcoming screenings, or to find out how you can buy a copy of the DVD. All proceeds from DVD sales go to the BC Cancer Foundation to fund research and support programs for young adults living with cancer.

  1. Please let me know where and/or when I can purchase your DVD “Chasing Rainbows: Young Adults Living With Cancer”. My son passed away at age 27, one year after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblast Leukemia. He relapsed from a bone marrow transplant. I have since been an advocate and voice for young adults with cancer and their families. I am a committee member for the Central Valley’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Patient Services and Advocacy.
I am glad you are also going to be putting together a book that is needed for awareness. Good Luck and also keep me posted on your success.

  2. Hi Judy – thanks so much for commenting, and apologies for the delay in responding! You can order a copy of the Chasing Rainbows DVD through the BC Cancer Foundation: the link for online orders is http://www.bccancerfoundation.com/cms/page1267.cfm. If for some reason that doesn’t work, please contact Pat at blackmoonlady@shaw.ca or 604-228-2792 and she will make sure you get a copy.
Thanks also for sharing your story, and for continuing to advocate for young adults with cancer and their families. Every voice helps, to let others like Sara and your son know that they are not alone and there are resources available to them.
